Ecotourism Melanesias PAPUA NEW GUINEA
If you are a scuba diver then you have probably already heard about Papua New Guinea's reputation for having some of the most interesting reef and wreck dives in the world, and possibly the world's clearest diving conditions.
We will leave the rest of the superlatives to the dive magazines and the "Paradise" magazine articles linked below. Suffice to say that diving and snorkelling activities in the country are concentrated in the following provinces:
Port Moresby (Loloata)
Oro Province (Tufi)
Milne Bay Province (dive boat charters out of Alotau)
Madang Province (Madang town, Malolo and Bogia)
East Sepik Province (Wewak Islands)
West New Britain (Walindi)
East New Britain (Rabaul/Kokopo)
New Ireland (Kavieng, Lissenung Island)
We have a listing of dive resorts and operators in these locations on our Dive Resorts page.
Most of these locations also have suitable conditions for snorkelling.
